Traffic Congestion along Galle-CBO Road

In a communique issued by the Police Headquarters a traffic congestion could arise along the Galle - Colombo main road from  due to the Esala Perahara of the Hikkaduwa Seenigama Maha Dewalaya, from 20th to 23rd August. It requests drivers to use alternate roads during this period.

Houses to war heroes under Api Venuwen Api - Galle

Leptospirosis nearly 5000 cases in 2011

The Epidemiology Unit of Sri Lanka Ministry of Health says so far this year 4,779 cases of leptospirosis have been reported in the country resulting in 60 deaths.
The  Kurunegala district has reported the most cases with 1,386, resulting in 10 deaths.The district with the most deaths is Gampaha, which has 11 deaths so far. However, the district has only reported 379 cases. Seventy three (73) people alone have been diagnosed with leptospirosis during the month of August.

Govt. will develop fishery & dairy farm sector in Hambantota - Minister Basil

02Addressing the meeting the Minister stated that the Sri Lanka Government will give priority to develop the fisheries industry and dairy farm sector in Hambathota District under the Divi Naguma Programme. The aim of these projects is to develop the lively hood of the general public in Hambathota District, the Minister said. The progess made so far on development projects in the district too were evaluated by the Minister.

Rat Fever deaths on the increase

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health informs that this year, up to now 4,779 cases of leptospirosis, also known as rat fever, have been reported and 60 of them have died.   The highest number of cases, amounting to 1386, has been reported from Kurunegala district, out of which ten of them have died.
