Sri Lanka's immunization procedure to change

Sri Lanka's Vaccination (immunization) procedure  is to be changed commencing October 01, said Dr. Paba Palihawadana, Director Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health. The vaccine MMR will be given to children for all three diseases, measles, rubella and mumps instead of injecting three vaccines.

PMB purchases the Bumper Yala Harvest

paddyThe Paddy Marketing Board informs that purchase of paddy from the farmers is being carried out successfully, and up to now nearly 3,000 metric tons of paddy has been purchased. It is expected that 2 million metric tons of harvest can be obtained during this Yala Season. Arrangements have been made to purchase 48,000 metric tons from the Northern Province alone.

Import taxes to stabilize local market prices

Fresh_Onion_Potato.summThe Sri Lanka Government last week increased the Import Taxes on big onions by Rs. 10 per kilogramme, potatoes by Rs. 5 and garlic by Rs. 15.  With this increase, Government charges an import duty of Rs. 35 for a kilogram of big Onions, Rs. 35 for a kilogram of potatoes and Rs. 25 for a kilogram of garlic.

Historic Madukanda Dalada Perahera after 31 years

More allocations to develop Commercial hub of Sri Lanka

Each Divisional Secretariat in Colombo District will be provided with funds to be utilized for the development of the district said Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Edonomic Development at the Colombo District Coordination Committee meeting yesterday (20). The government has decided to allocate more money for the development of the district since it is the commercial hub of the country. the Minister further emphasised.
